Tanz – das klingt nach Schwerelosigkeit und Leichtigkeit. Doch Tanzkunst ist körperliche Schwerstarbeit. Spätestens mit 40 Jahren haben die Tänzer:innen oft ihren Zenit erreicht. In der Reife steckt aber auch großes künstlerisches Potenzial, das die Glorifizierung der Jugend zunehmend infrage stellt. Der Film porträtiert u.a. die Ballettstars Polina Semionova und Friedemann Vogel. Es ist die Illusion der Schwerelosigkeit und zugleich ein romantisches Klischee: anmutige Luftwesen, die feengleich in Tüllröcken über die Bühne schweben.
