Das Oberflächenmaterial des neuen Schuhs besteht zu 100 % aus Garnen und Fasern, die aus recycelten Abfällen und illegalen Hochseenetzen aus dem Ozean gewonnen werden. Adidas präsentierte das neues Schuh-Konzept, in Zusammenarbeit mit der Organisation Parley for the Oceans, anlässlich einer Veranstaltung zum Thema Klimawandel der UN in New York. Die Partnerorganisation von Parley for the Oceans, Sea Shepherd, hatte die Netze im Zuge einer 110 Tage dauernden Expedition vor der Küste von Westafrika eingesammelt.
