Das portugiesische Studio Bak Gordon Arquitectos hat ein Haus neben einem langen Swimmingpool in der portugiesischen Region Alentejo fertiggestellt. Der Pool, der entlang der Südwand des Hauses verläuft, war der Ausgangspunkt für den Entwurf der Casa Azul.

“Built in the vast territory of Alentejo, the house emerges from the figure of an extensive water tank attached to a wall, facing south,” sagte Bak Gordon Arquitectos. “It is as if it was a resonance box of the entire landscape.”

Der Wassertank wurde so entworfen, dass er die umgebende ländliche Landschaft widerspiegelt, die aus grasigem und dem sandigem Gelände besteht. “We like to think about how we relate to the landscape,” fügt das Studio hinzu. “This relationship should not be too open, especially in the Alentejo. On the contrary [we like], the idea of framing as if it were a living painting.”

Die geometrische Anordnung des Gebäudes und die breiten Fenster und Öffnungen wurden entworfen, um die Bewohner in Licht zu tauchen und mehrere Orte zu bieten, um die Naturlandschaft draußen zu bewundern. “The Alentejo landscape is very horizontal and the sunlight is very geometric. The relationship between light and shadow becomes a fundamental element.”

Bak Gordon Arquitectos verwendete Kork, um das Haus zu isolieren. Dieser wurde mit einem pigmentierten Kalkmörtel bedeckt, der auch von der Landschaft und dem Erbe der Gegend geprägt war. “The presence of cork, which isolates the entire house from the outside, is also a hallmark of the Alentejo landscape. Lime mortar, which covers all surfaces, has always been used in ancestral buildings in the Alentejo. We spread a pigmented mortar on all the surfaces.”
